PRESS RELEASES FOR AUGUST 3RD, 2015

During the week of July 27 through August 2, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,476 calls for service throughout the community. 
Citizens with information on the following crimes or any criminal activity in Calvert County who wish to report it anonymously can now access the Calvert County Crime Solvers link through the Sheriff’s Office website.  
Go to http://www.co.cal.md.us/residents/safety/law/sheriff/ and click on the Crime Solvers link to leave an anonymous tip on-line, or call 410-535-2880.  Information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect could result in a $1,000 reward.
Trespassing Case #15-40695:
A woman reported to Dep. A. Ostazeski that on July 27 at 8:20 a.m. there was a knock on her front door.  She opened the door a small amount and a black male asked if she had a telephone she could use.  She replied no and began to close the door.  The suspect then grabbed the door, forcing it open.  The woman’s dog ran in the room and bit the suspect on the leg.  The suspect then fled the scene.  This case is under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Burglary Case #15-40713:
Unknown suspect(s) stole a 2013 Honda TRX 400X four wheeler from a garage in the 11800 block of Rivershore Drive in Dunkirk between July 23 and 27.  The four wheeler is red and white in color.  DFC A. Woodford is investigating.
Burglary Case #15-40733:
A victim on Sidewinder Court in Lusby reported to Dep. G. Gott that between July 18 and 24, someone stole a small, blue air compressor and a red, pancake-shaped air compressor from his shed.  The investigation continues.
Theft Case #15-40774:
DFC C. Fox is investigating the theft of an envelope of cash stolen from inside an unlocked vehicle parked overnight in the Ledo’s Restaurant parking lot in Chesapeake Beach between July 26 and 27. 
Burglary Case #15-40835
Unknown suspect(s) broke into a home in the 11200 block of Cove Lake Road in Lusby sometime between July 20 and 27 and stole over $6,000 worth of jewelry.  DFC J. Hardesty is investigating.
Theft Case #15-41070:
A Simpson pressure washer was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 10900 block of Cedar Drive in Lusby on July 28 between 1:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.  DFC J. Hardesty is investigating.
Destruction of Property Case #15-41121:
Dep. C. Ward is investigating damage to a bus station shelter at the Park ‘N Ride on Town Center Boulevard in Dunkirk.  The damage was discovered on July 29.
Burglary Case #15-41220:
A home in the 12400 block of San Jose Lane in Lusby was burglarized sometime between July 23 and 29 and a red 2003 Daytec motorcycle was stolen from the garage.  DFC J. Denton is investigating.
Burglary Case #15-41600:
On July 31 at 12:51 p.m. Dep. C. Idol responded to a home in the 2500 block of Solomons Island Road in Port Republic for the report of a burglary in progress.  The owner of the home indicated the house is for sale and when she arrived today she saw a man loading items from the house into a van.  Idol made contact with the suspect who admitted to taking the items and showed them to Idol.  The owners advised that on July 27 they had noticed items missing and the suspect advised he had those items at his house.  Idol arrested Richard Lynn Butcher, 52, of St. Leonard and charged him with two counts of second degree burglary, two counts of fourth degree burglary and two counts of theft under $1,000.

Burglary Case #15-41643:
A home in the 100 block of Leason Cove Drive in Lusby was burglarized on July 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Two guns and money was stolen.  Dep. R. Weems is investigating.
Burglary Case #15-41809:
Unknown suspect(s) spray painted obscene pictures on the side of a home on Thomas Avenue in Owings and then broke into the home and spray painted inside as well.  DFC A. Locke is continuing the investigation.
Theft from Vehicles Cases #15-41128 and #15-41133:

A purse was taken from inside a vehicle at a home on Whispering Drive in Prince Frederick sometime between July 28 and 30 and later located in the nearby woods. Between July 28 and 29 a vehicle parked outside another home on Whispering Drive was broken into and $53 in property was taken.   DFC T. Holt is investigating both thefts.
